Shaping the Digital Future of Energy: Highlights from AUTOMA 2025
On 13-14 October, AUTOMA 2025 brought together the global oil and gas digitalisation community in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, for two days of innovation, collaboration and strategic dialogue. Hosted by Fluor, this year’s Congress united experts and decision-makers from across the energy value chain to explore how AI, digital twins and sustainable development are reshaping the industry’s future.
Leading Industry Figures
The 2025 edition of the AUTOMA Congress welcomed 340 delegates and representatives from 170 companies across 40+ countries. Participants came together to share expertise, build new partnerships and exchange practical insights on the future of digital transformation in oil and gas.
This year’s event was made possible thanks to our Host Sponsor - Fluor, and Regional Partners - Moeve, Linde plc, Italgas S.p.A., Gizil GmbH and Repsol. We also thank our Premier Sponsor - Tata Consultancy Services, Principal Sponsor - CVA Group, Platinum Sponsor - Imubit and Diamond Sponsor - HiveMQ GmbH for their outstanding support.
“I think this is a place where we get both EPC, vendors and our clients together — a collaborative space to talk to each other. And there is a lot of time in the programme to speak to each other, so it's not only listening to the presentations, but it's also learning from each other. I think that's very useful, and we are very glad to sponsor a congress like that.” - Hans Heerschop, Senior Director Information Technology at Fluor.
Business Programme: From Data to Decarbonisation — AI Leads the Way
The AUTOMA 2025 Business Programme gathered 56 speakers across 20+ hours of case studies and discussions, showcasing how AI, digital twins and data-driven insights are accelerating progress toward a smarter and more sustainable oil and gas industry.
Throughout the Congress, AI, Digital Twins and Big Data emerged as the most discussed topics — illustrating a clear shift from experimentation to practical implementation. Both strategic and technical sessions showcased how companies are applying these technologies to boost efficiency, improve safety and advance sustainability goals.

Participants highlighted the value of the Executive Opening Panel. The Digital Frontier of Low Carbon Energy, which provided a strategic outlook on how digitalisation is enabling decarbonisation across operations. Meanwhile, sessions such as Leaders Talk 1. AI & Data: Fueling Innovation and Roundtable 3. Big Data for Strategic Growth offered hands-on insights into leveraging analytics, AI and digital ecosystems for business performance.

Several experts stood out for their thought-provoking perspectives and practical approaches. Alex Rotenberg (Kinaxis) discussed how AI-driven decision-making is reshaping energy operations and helping companies move from reactive to proactive management. Francesco Coletti (Hexxcell Ltd) demonstrated how hybrid AI and Digital Twin technologies can significantly improve system efficiency, reliability and decarbonisation outcomes. And Laura Rodríguez Palafox (Repsol), together with Juan Pedro Cazorla, shared Repsol’s vision for autonomous plant operations — a forward-looking example of how digital transformation is redefining large-scale industrial processes.

We extend our sincere appreciation to all speakers and panelists who shared their expertise, innovative projects and valuable case studies. Their contributions turned the AUTOMA 2025 stage into a powerful platform for exchanging ideas and turning digital strategies into measurable results.
Networking and B2B Meetings

Networking remained at the heart of AUTOMA 2025. Delegates took part in 288 B2B meetings and enjoyed 20+ hours of dedicated networking opportunities. Thanks to the assistance of personal managers, participants were able to connect effortlessly with potential clients, partners and collaborators, ensuring valuable discussions and long-term partnerships.
"90% of people here are the people we need to talk to. They're the right people in oil and gas; they're the right people with the right background, with the right level of authority to actually allow us to sell our new technology to their particular market. And that's really been very helpful." - Malcolm James, Head of HSSE Innovation & Projects at DEKIFocus Exhibition and Tech Zone: Hands-On Innovation

The Focus Exhibition and special Tech Zone featured 54 booths, where companies showcased the latest tools and solutions transforming oil and gas operations.
Attendees experienced interactive demonstrations, including machines such as Ascento's critical infrastructure security robot, drones from The Bionic Eye / FlyThru Limited and Fotokite, VR-based training tools, welding simulators and advanced digital twin applications.
Adding a touch of fun, Cyzag, the Coffee Break Sponsor, hosted engaging quizzes and raffled off LEGO sets to lucky winners. The exhibition floor was buzzing with activity — a true celebration of innovation and collaboration.
Looking Ahead: AUTOMA 2026
As AUTOMA 2025 concluded, one thing was clear — the industry’s digital transformation journey is accelerating, and collaboration remains the key to unlocking its full potential.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to all sponsors, partners, speakers, exhibitors and delegates for contributing to another successful edition of the Congress.
We look forward to welcoming the AUTOMA community back for the next edition on 5-6 October 2026, once again in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. Request a brochure
